This glossary defines basic math terms including addition, subtraction, even and odd numbers, place value, skip counting, and comparing numbers using greater than and less than symbols.
Joining two or more numbers to get a bigger number. (3 + 2 = 5)
Taking one number away from another. (5 - 2 = 3)
A number that ends in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8. It can be divided by 2
A number that ends in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9
The value of where a digit is in a number (ones, tens, hundreds)
The second place from the right in a number (e.g., in 34, the 3 is tens)
The first place from the right in a number (e.g., in 34, the 4 is ones)
Counting by numbers other than 1 (e.g., 2, 4, 6, 8…)
A number that is bigger. (7 > 3)
A number that is smaller. (2 < 5)
